The Golden Swallow – La Golondrina Verde

“…[an] exceedingly lovely little swallow, whose plumage reflects the radiance of the Hummingbirds” – Gosse, 1847

First Lay Date – April 30th

Posted by Justin Proctor en mayo 3, 2012

Marisol sets out into the pajon….the deepest of ALL pajon!

Three nests with eggs (and counting)!

Several observations….

1.  A pair of GOSW were seen attacking a red tailed hawk perched above their nesting box

2.  Many nests are made of not one, but three species of lichen

3.  Species seems to waste no time between clutch completion and committing to incubation.  In fact, it appears as though incubation is taking place DURING the egg laying days.

Currently in town awaiting jeep to be outfitted with a gasoline fuel injection system, as cold mornings with only propane have resulted in us going nowhere!

Muy buena la foto de la golondrina incubando.. ¿le dicen “Dorada” por los reflejos de las plumas?
    Besos y abrazo !!
